School Safety & Campus Access

School Campus Access:

  • As required by Florida state law, everyone MUST have a cleared background check to go past the front office at Freedom Crossing Academy. Picture ID (driver’s license) is also required to enter the building at all times. You MUST have school access approval to volunteer at the school, attend any conferences or chaperone field trips. Now is the time to go ahead and apply for school access!  Please make sure all spouses, grandparents, siblings over the age of 18, etc. who may visit the school are also approved to enter the building. Apply here: https://www.stjohns.k12.fl.us/volunteer/
  • You will be taken to the school access application. Please make sure to designate Freedom Crossing Academy so we receive the application. Enter your information (including first, middle and last name) and finish by clicking submit. You will be contacted via email should you choose to include it in the application when you have been cleared.  The cleared application is good for 3 years and can be updated in the front office or renewed at any time.  At no time should you have to resubmit another application.
  • The front doors will remain locked during school hours. Front Office personnel will request visitors state the nature of the visit before the doors will be unlocked. If there are multiple visitors, all visitors will need to respond before being able to enter. We appreciate your patience and understanding as the safety of our students and staff is paramount. If you have any questions or need further assistance, please contact the front office at 904-547-4230.

Schoology & Home Access Center (HAC)

  • Schoology: An online platform, utilized by all students in grades 5th–8th grade for assignments, announcements, important due dates, and class agendas. Teachers communicate with their students each week via Schoology by posting a weekly agenda located on the student’s landing page for each course. The weekly agenda includes the weekly assignments and other important information. Teachers also post important due dates on the Schoology calendar.

HAC: The Home Access Center (HAC) allows students and parents to view their child’s educational information via a secure password protected website, Android app, or iPhone app. Your child’s overall grade(s) are posted in the Home Access Center. This includes your child’s most current grades including missing assignments.

    • The Home Access Center is also where parents can view their child’s interim grades and report card. Please check HAC, not Schoology, for your child’s final grades. Schoology is for individual assignment grades only.
    • Student HAC Account: Students log in with their Active Directory username and password ( Snumber). Students can check their grades and view classes and assignments using their HAC account information.
    • Parent HAC Account: Parents can view their registered students when they use the parent log in. If you have questions about your HAC account, please call the front office at 547-4230 for assistance.
    • Please visit the St. Johns County website to access the Home Access Center and for additional helpful resources. https://www.stjohns.k12.fl.us/hac/

St. Johns County School District Student Code of Conduct

The Student Code of Conduct is developed in accordance with the School Board’s policies governing student behavior and discipline. This document is reviewed and updated annually and is distributed by each school principal, either in printed form or electronically. The Student Code of Conduct  includes important information related to the following areas:

  • Students’ Rights & Responsibilities
  • Student Attendance
  • Student Health
  • Student Dress Code
  • Grounds for Disciplinary Action
  • Student-Athlete Code of Conduct
  • Student Discipline and Rules of Conduct
  • Student Transportation

Please note code of conduct changes for the 25-26 school year:

  • A new Level 3 offense has been added this year addressing the use of discriminatory language.
  • Florida law now strictly prohibits elementary and middle school students from using electronic communication devices during the school day.

For more information about policies in the 25-26 Student Code of Conduct, please visit the district website: Student Code of Conduct – School Services

Bicycle/E-Bikes/Scooters

Students riding bicycles, electric bicycles, or scooters to school must wear a safety helmet in accordance with Florida Statutes (F.S. 316.2065 and 316.20655). For their safety, students should never ride any type of bicycle, electric bike, or scooter on school grounds. Upon arrival at school, students are required to disembark their vehicle at the entry gate and walk it to the designated storage area. The same protocol should be followed when leaving the campus. Students are encouraged to lock these items in the designated storage area.

Your child’s safety is our top priority. To ensure a safe dismissal for our biker/walkers, please use FCA’s designated car lines for drop-off and pickup. We also ask that you remind your child to always use the crosswalks and follow the instructions of our crossing guards. There are two cross walks designated for our students including one located by the main entrance of the school (near bus loop) and another cross walk located at the corner of Longleaf and Shetland Drive. Both crosswalks have crossing guards posted from 7:25 AM to 7:50 AM and in the afternoon from 2:23 PM to 2:53 PM. Students should cross the street at the corner of Shetland and Long Leaf where the crossing guard is posted (pond side). Also, please remind your child to only cross the street at crosswalks and stoplights, and never in the middle of the street or between parked cars.

25-26 School Theme

This year, we are thrilled to launch our school-wide theme:’  “Breaking Barriers to Infinity and Beyond!” This space-inspired theme is designed to spark curiosity, creativity, and a love of learning across our campus. Throughout the year, we will infuse this theme into academic projects, schoolwide events like Rock Your School Day and Boosterthon, and special STEM-focused learning experiences. We believe this theme will inspire our students to reach for the stars and SOAR to new heights in their academics.

If your family has any connections to space-related organizations such as NASA, SpaceX, or similar, and you would be interested in supporting classroom instruction or events, please reach out to Mrs. Lime, Principal.

New! BusPlanner & Chipmunk App

  • Starting this year, all bus route information, pick-up/drop-off times, and transportation alerts will be provided exclusively through the BusPlanner web portal or Chipmunk app.
    • Website: https://sjcsd.mybusplanner.com
    • Parents must register using the same email address connected to their HAC account.
    • This system also allows you to send direct messages to the transportation department and receive live bus delay updates.
  • HAC will no longer display transportation details.

New! PBIS Rewards

We’re excited to introduce PBIS Rewards, a new platform that will replace LiveSchool as our positive behavior tracking and incentive system.

While the core structure remains the same—students earning points for demonstrating positive behavior—PBIS Rewards offers new features to enhance student motivation and family engagement. With the PBIS Rewards Family App, parents can view their child’s point totals, behavior referrals, store purchases, and upcoming reward events in real time.

What’s New?

Unlike LiveSchool, PBIS Rewards allows students to:

  • Shop in a custom online store (led by our Leadership students—think Amazon-style delivery system & rewards!)
  • Browse reward items and upcoming events directly in the app
  • Receive faster, more personalized recognition from teachers and staff across all school settings

Reinforcing the FCA Way

At FCA, we are committed to building strong character and a positive learning environment. Through PBIS Rewards, students will earn points for demonstrating:

  • FLIGHT Expectations: Focus, Leadership, Imagination, Grit, Heart, and Teamwork
  • The FCA Way: Focused on Safety, Committed to Responsibility, Always Respectful
  • Character Counts Pillars: Trustworthiness, Respect, Responsibility, Fairness, Caring, and Citizenship

All staff can award points, helping reinforce these expectations throughout the day.

How to Get Started

In the first week of school, parents will receive their child’s unique QR code to activate the free PBIS Rewards Family App. This allows you to:

  • Monitor your child’s progress
  • Celebrate positive behaviors at home
  • Support their success across school and community settings

📱 Watch how the PBIS Rewards Family App works

We believe PBIS Rewards will take our behavior program to the next level—strengthening school culture and helping every Falcon soar!

New! Introducing Raptor Dismissal Safe

For the 2025–2026 school year, Freedom Crossing Academy will utilize Raptor Dismissal Safe, a new, comprehensive system designed to streamline and enhance the safety of student dismissal across all areas: carline, biker/walkers, and afterschool activities.

The  Raptor Safe App will allow guardians to easily:

  • Communicate changes to dismissal plans,
  • Manage authorized pick-up lists,
  • Receive real-time updates on their child’s dismissal status.

How It Works

Raptor Dismissal Safe uses a centralized platform accessible via web and mobile app to coordinate all dismissal procedures. Staff will be able to monitor carline check-ins, bus boarding, and activity dismissals in real-time which will enhance communication, reduce wait times, and improve overall safety.

When any changes are made to a student’s dismissal plan, the system will automatically notify all relevant staff and guardians, keeping everyone informed and aligned.

What’s Changing in Carline?

As we roll out this system, you’ll notice a few changes to our carline procedures:

  • A staff member will now check in each car using the app.
  • Parents should continue to display their Name Tag clearly on the rearview mirror with their child’s name and QR Code (unique to each child).
  • Students will begin dismissing from their classrooms at 2:20 PM,
  • Once a student reaches the parent pick-up area, they’ll be marked “dismissed” in the app, triggering a notification to parents that their child is on the way.
  • Our Safety Patrols will be assisting during after school dismissal to help our students navigate to the correct pick-up locations, opening car doors, and ensuring a smooth process for everybody.

Next Steps:

  • Families can download the Raptor Safe App. More information will be shared soon.
  • We’ll share additional details as we get closer to the first day of school.

Raptor Safe App

Thank you for your partnership as we implement this exciting new system designed to keep our Falcons safe and dismissal running smoothly!
