Sunshine State books are selected for their wide appeal, literary value, varied genres, curriculum connections, and\/or multicultural representation. The SSYRA committee is comprised of 20 qualified school librarians located throughout the state of Florida, subdivided into two committees- grades 3-5 and grades 6-8.<\/p><p><em>The nominees for the 2024-25 school year are:<\/em><\/p><p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.floridamediaed.org\/uploads\/6\/1\/4\/2\/61420659\/2024-25_ssyra_3-5_annotated_list.pdf.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">SSYRA Grades 3-5 2024-25<br \/><\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/www.floridamediaed.org\/uploads\/6\/1\/4\/2\/61420659\/24-25_annotated_list.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">SSYRA Grades 6-8 2024-25<\/a><\/p><p>The mission of the SSYRA Jr. program (Grades K-2) is to develop student interest in reading for pleasure by exposing them to a wide range of appropriate literature. Sunshine State Jr. books are selected for their wide appeal, literary value, varied genres, curriculum connections, and\/or multicultural representation.
